Cloudinary supports removing the background from an image in more than one way, depending on the complexity and the characteristics of the input image.
- Make-transparent effect:
When an image consists of a uniformly colored background, it can be removed by applying the make_transparent effect (
e_make_transparentfor URLs). The sensitivity can be further tuned by adding a value between 0 and 100.
More information is available here: http://cloudinary.com/documentation/image_transformation_reference#effect_parameter
- Remove-The-Background add-on:
For more complex scenarios, when required to remove interfering items from the frame, leaving only the main object in the image, one can use the 3rd party add-on 'Remove-The-Background'.
Note that this comes with additional costs. For more information: http://cloudinary.com/documentation/remove_the_background_image_editing_addon
