There are three ways to delete assets from your account:
1) Deleting assets in the Media Library
Tick the checkboxes of the assets you'd like to delete, then click the trash can icon in the blue toolbar that pops up once you've selected the assets.
Note that you can click the checkbox of an asset, then hold down the shift key and click the checkbox of another to select the assets in question and all assets in between.
2) Deleting assets using the API
You can delete a single asset using the destroy
method of the Upload API or delete multiple assets using the deleteResources
method of the Admin API.
More information about how to use the above two methods can be found in our documentation page on managing assets. Please note the video tutorial a little further down from the linked section which covers these topics and more.
3) Deleting assets using the bulk delete tool in the Media Library
Navigate to your settings page by clicking the gear icon in the bottom left of your Media Library, then click "Bulk delete" under "Self-Service Operations" in the righthand column. Here, you'll see several options for the kinds of assets you'd like to select and delete in bulk
Please note that the exact options you see above may vary based on your account's settings. Feel free to submit a support ticket at support.cloudinary.com if you need any assistance with the above.
To delete all assets in a folder, use the "prefix" field. For example, if you have a folder named folder1
, you would enter folder1/
including the forward slash at the end. Note that this will delete all assets in folders within that folder as well, for example folder1/folder2/image
will be deleted.
If you accidentally delete assets that you would like to recover, you can submit a support ticket at support.cloudinary.com . Please note that recoveries are not guaranteed, especially if the deletions occurred some time ago and/or you don't have automatic backups enabled.

Is there still no way to delete multiple images in the web interface?
This is a serious handy cap in my opinion. I'd love to see a bulk action option the media library. Now if I want to delete images it's 3 clicks per image (click on the image, click on the delete button, click on the confirm button) and the load time of the detail image page.
Hi Chris, Thomas and Mario,
I wanted to let you know that we take your comments very seriously and that we see it as a priority to modernize our Media-Library and making it much more simple to use and powerful than it is now.
We are currently working on this new functionality, and we will make sure to update here once the deployment is carried out.
Meantime, if you require our assistance, feel free to post your bulk-deletion request via the account management console
what is the status of this?
I'd need it too!
Hi, just wanted to let you know that our media-library was recently updated with multiple-selection support for different bulk actions such as ZIP archiving, tagging, deleting, etc.
What's the max no of files I can select for bulk action? I got "1000+ selected, please clear some".
After paying for the service for all these years, and this is the qualify of services we got?
Is there no "Select All" in the media library?
I've tagged and filtered all test images while im developing and want to simply delete all the test images i've uploaded. is there no way to select all these in a simple click? Can't seem to find a "select all" button.
Hi Karl & Jayson,
"Select all" and "Criteria based deletion" functionalities are currently under development and hopefully will become available soon. At the moment there's a safety limit of up to 1000 resources being deleted in a single operation.
For more advanced removal tasks, you can turn to the Admin-API or contact us and we'll be happy to process this for you.
We're sorry for the inconvenience and pushing the priority of this feature as much as we can.
Hi Nadav, the bulk delete option would have to be activated from the management console as an optional feature (It can be dangerous). You would have to consider that if implement bulk delete you have to implement bulk restore.
Thanks.
- Felipe
Hi Felipe,
You're absolutely right, it can indeed be very dangerous.
We strongly recommend to backup your resources at time, to allow fast restoration when things go wrong. See: http://cloudinary.com/blog/automatic_backup_of_user_uploaded_images_using_cloudinary
We are here one year later and we are still not able to Select All images and delete them all at once.
Will this be available soon ?
Hi Pawel,
Self-service bulk deletion from the UI is currently in development, and is planned to be delivered during this half. We'll update here as soon as it comes out.
Hi all,
A new bulk delete from the web interface is now available:)
