When using the Media Library Advanced Editing
page of an asset, the URL featured under the preview will reflect the transformations added to the asset. However, the transformed asset will only be created and attached to the original asset in your Cloudinary account as soon as it is delivered outside of the Advanced
Editing
page (e.g. if you click on it and open it in your browser).
Previewing the transformed asset in the Advanced
Editing
page or saving the transformed version you just generated will depend on whether the Transformation Builder
is enabled in the Early Access
section of your Media Library Preferences.
Transformation Builder enabled
Preview of the transformed asset
When adding transformation to your original asset via the Advanced
Editing
page, you will need to click on Apply

Saving the transformed asset
It will depend on whether you want to save the transformed asset as a new asset or replace the original asset.
- If you want to save it as a new asset, click on
Save Assets As...
. - If you want to replace the original asset, click on
Save Asset
.
Transformation Builder disabled
Preview of the transformed asset
When adding transformation to your original asset via the Advanced
Editing
page, you will need to click on Refresh Preview
to see the transformed asset.
Saving the transformed asset
Without the transformation builder enabled, it is not possible to save the transformed asset directly and you will have to upload the asset using the generated URL.
- If you want to save it as a new asset, you will need to specify another
public_id
when uploading the asset. - If you want to replace the original asset, you will need to keep the same
public_id
when uploading the asset. In case you use the API, you will need to pass theoverwrite
parameter and set it totrue
.
