There are many ways to transform your images, and one of the ways to do so within the Media Library UI is to use the Advanced Editing page. You can access this page by clicking the "3 dot" icon of an image in your Media Library, and selecting "Advanced Editing":
When using the Media Library Advanced Editing
page of an asset, the URL featured alongside the transformed image's preview will reflect the transformations added to the asset, and this URL can be used to deliver this derived (transformed) image. However, the transformed image will only be created and associated with the original image in your Cloudinary account when it is actually requested and delivered outside of the Advanced
Editing
page (e.g. if you click on it and open it in your browser).
If you would like to use this derived image as the new "original" version of the image, please see the following steps below, which differ depending on if you have the Transformation Builder
option enabled in the Early Access
section of your Media Library Preferences.
Transformation Builder enabled
Once you select transformations and Apply
them, the options in the upper right corner to Save Asset As...
and Save Asset
become available.
- If you want to save your derived image as a new asset with a different public ID, click on
Save Asset As...
. - If you want to replace the original asset you are working on, click on
Save Asset
.
Transformation Builder disabled
Without the transformation builder enabled, you will need to re-upload the image using the URL shown under your asset preview in order to save the derived asset as an original asset on your account.
- If you want to save the derived asset as a new asset, you will need to specify a different
public_id
when uploading the asset. - If you want to replace the original asset, you will need to keep the same
public_id
when uploading the asset. When performing the upload using our API, you will need to pass theoverwrite
parameter and set it totrue
.
