SVG Uploads in cloudinary

Hello,

I am having difficulty uploading certain .svg files to cloudinary. The uploader returns the exception: cloudinary.exceptions.Error: Zero-sized SVG is invalid  and I cannot quite figure out how to fix this. The error, from my understanding seems to suggest that the file has no content but it does have content and the file size is not 0 at all. Is there a particular way .svg files need to presented to the uploader? I am using the django SDK to do the upload and the .svg files are from fontawesome.

    In order to further investigate, can you please provide an example of an SVG file that is failing to upload? If privacy is a concern, you can open a ticket at support@cloudinary.com.

    Hi,

    How do I share the .svg? I have tried copying it's content as code on a reply but it too long for a comment and .svg are not permitted as comment attachments. Below is a sample of the first few lines from the .svg file

    Can you open a ticket here (https://support.cloudinary.com/hc/en-us/requests/new), include the svg file and reference me by name, so I can reproduce on my end. If you can also share your cloud name in the request, that would be great as well.

    Hello, we are experiencing the same error message: "Zero-sized SVG is invalid" with what appears to be the same situation. Would it be possible to include the results of the internal ticket in this thread so we can figure out how to resolve the situation ourselves...

    Hi Jack,

    Usually, the error message "Zero-sized SVG is invalid" happens when there are no dimensions specified on the XML. If you set the height and width then you should not get that error anymore. In case this doesn't solve your issue, you can create an internal ticket for us thru https://support.cloudinary.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and share the image with us so we can check it.

    Hi Francis, thanks for getting back to me. We are setting a `viewBox` on the SVG but not setting a width or height at all. This has worked well for all but one (so far) of the SVGs. Since the upload failed it will be a bit of work to try to get the SVG that reproduces the issue, but I can see if we have time for that soon.

    Would you expect `viewBox` to be sufficient or would `width` & `height` still be required?

    It's interesting you mentioned that only one failed (without width or height). We do require height and width, can you send us an example SVG file where this worked without width/height and also the file that is experiencing this issue?
