Cylinderize an image
I see in documentation that it is possible to use the displace effect to apply an image on a mug, just like this :
but I was wondering, is it possible to apply this effect on both directions ? So that we can get this kind of effect:
In all of the examples that were used on this thread where the original question was posted we used the below displacement map to curve the image:
A different map could curve that more according to what you are especially looking for.
Does that make sense?
You can change the direction of an image by adding the transformation `a_vflip.180`
For example, for this image:
Please let me know if that answered your question,
Thanks for letting us know.
The changes in displacement happen when applying a different displacement map to the image.
Displacement maps are images that are used as gradient maps. In a gradient map the stronger the intensity of each pixel in the gradient map, the bigger the displacement of the corresponding pixel in the base image.
So in order to create a different curvature, a new displacement map would need to be created, and then uploaded to Cloudinary, so the original image would be curved according to it.
After uploading the displacement map, you could use that as an overly to curve the original image
Does that make more sense?
For your reference, you could try using the below displacement map:
In that map, the green is up and to the right and the red is down and to the left. this creates a displacement in both directions:
You could take that map and change to fit a cylinder.
