First byte time for my site skyrocketed after installation

I installed the plugin because my image-heavy site was having terrible load times. My Compress transfer went from an "F" score to an "A" score on  http://www.webpagetest.org/ after I installed and uploaded all my photos 

BUT

My First byte time went from a "C" score to an "F". Can anyone explain why and how this occurred after installing Cloudinary?

  Hi Marni,

  When looking at the details:
  
  http://www.webpagetest.org/result/131114_9Q_A4W/1/details/
  
  We see that the average first byte time for Cloudinary is 44ms.

  When looking at review:
  
  http://www.webpagetest.org/performance_optimization.php?test=131114_9Q_A4W&run=1&cached=0
  
  We see:
  
  673 ms First Byte Time
  
  222 ms Target First Byte Time

  Cloudinary is well below target time.
