How does one apply the multiply effect?

I'm stuck and need help - I'm curious how one would apply the multiply effect?

I keep receiving this message:

Must supply overlay or underlay with the multiply effect

But am unsure of how to 'supply' the overlay or underlay.

  Hi Randy,

  When using the multiply effect (e_multiply in the url), specify the image you want to overlay(l_someImage) as well.
  For example, using cloudinary_icon and sample imaged from the demo account -
  http://res.cloudinary.com/demo/image/upload/e_multiply,l_cloudinary_icon/sample.jpg

  This transformation will blend cloudinary_icon with the sample. (every pixel of cloudinary_icon will become darker than the sample)
