    Hello Malcom,

    Unfortunately there is no easy solution to add a gradient effect to text NOT using a pre-existing image with an gradient effect. 

    We do have some gradient effects that are reserved for images (i.e. gradient fade or gradient fade into padding) which works great for images/padding. 

    However the easiest solution to achieve what you are looking would be to use an image as a text texture as you hinted at in your original post.  Link on how to achieve this via our cookbook can be found below:

    Hi, thank you for the quick response. Now that I know there is no alternative method, I can now proceed with adding a coloured gradient image to my text to achieve the desired effect.
