Poster of video with video overlay

It seems to be impossible to generate a poster preview of a video with a video overlay on it. A very crude example of what I want to achieve. Here is a sample video with a video overlay:

You see two dogs side by side. However, if you go for jpg poster by changing the extension:

https://res.cloudinary.com/demo/video/upload/w_200,h_200/l_video:dog,so_0,h_200,w_200,o_50,x_100/dog.jpg

You will only see one dog, the overlay is missing. I have tried other output formats (PNG etc.) but nothing seems to work. Could you please tell me if this is possible to do using your API? Thank you!

  Hi Challingo,

  Currently, we do not support overlaying a single video thumbnail on top of another video-thumbnail.

  A workaround for that is creating a thumbnail, then saving that as an image, then you can add it to your layout as you have with the other images.

  I have alerted our Product team about this and hopefully, this is something we will be able to support in the future. For now, a workaround is a viable option.

  Thank you, Aditi. Can you point me in a direction as how to save transformed cloudinary image as another cloudinary image?

  Hi

   

  In order to use a derived mage as a new original image, you could re-upload the served image back to Cloudinary as an original. You could do that by either downloading the image to your machine and re-upload it, or use the URL of the derived image as the source of the upload.
