Upload widget v2.0: prefill the value of google image search field
Hi
I'm using the upload widget v2.0 in AngularJS. Everything works fine, but what I want to do as an extra feature is to prefill the google image search field with something the user already filled in on my website (so the user doesn't have to type the same thing twice.
Is there an easy way / feature to access the search field value and prefill it on loading the upload widget? Or any advice on how to fulfill this requirement?

Hi Stijn,
Currently, it is not possible to prefill the search field. That being said, if this ever added to our roadmap we'll update here.

Is there any news on the roadmap for the upload widget?
Will there be a new version soon? (And will it include my feature request above?)

Hi Stijn,
I'm afraid there aren't any plans to support this in the short term; if we were to add this later, as Raya said, we'll certainly let you know here.
In the meantime, if you need to have your users choose from a selection of images matching a specific search term, I would suggest that you look at Google's custom search API; it may be possible for you to build the image search into your own app, then pass the selected image URL to Cloudinary's API for uploading to your accountThanks,

Thanks for the answer Stephen. Like you suggested, I already had a Google custom search directive. But I wanted to use the cloudinary upload widget instead of my custom made upload widget.
I guess I'll wait and hope my feature request will be implemented in one of the following release :)

Hi Stijn,
Thanks for the extra information - I'm glad to see my idea wasn't completely crazy, given that you're already doing something like it :)
I don't know if/when we'll add a feature like this to the upload widget directly, but in general we're often adding more customisation options, so perhaps there'll be a way to integrate the widget more tightly with your existing search in future - we'll try to keep you updated with any relevant changes here, and we also provide product update announcements in the Media Library UI, and on the Product Updates page
Thanks,
Stephen0
