Same file and settings - different output on different accounts
I've stumbled upon a strange issue. I've uploaded the exact same file to two different Cloudinary accounts, and when I download it using the same transformation settings on both accounts, the resulting file is different. One of them is a lot more compressed than the other.
Here's the exact same mp3 file on the two different accounts:
- https://res.cloudinary.com/gotterdammerung/video/upload/v1634137273/cyoa-editor-2/6166f4b7c7b9504c7c5cd482.mp3
But when the exact same transformations are applied, in this case with quality set to 80, the output is not the same:
- https://res.cloudinary.com/gotterdammerung/video/upload/q_80/v1634137273/cyoa-editor-2/6166f4b7c7b9504c7c5cd482.mp3
One of them is 2.2 mb after the transform, and the other is 3mb.
There are a few other strange things going on as well. For instance, changing the quality parameter to different values does not seem to have any impact what so ever on the file size - it's the same file output no matter the setting.

Hi Adam,
Thanks for reaching out.
After investigation, there was a different configuration on our side regarding audio files.
On the cloud digjnnmjg, which is a recent cloud, the default frequency for audio was 48kHz while on the cloud gotterdammerung, which is an older cloud, the default frequency for audio was 22.05kHz hence the difference in size when generating a transformation.
I have change this configuration for the older cloud and try it out on the same file: https://res.cloudinary.com/gotterdammerung/video/upload/v1652692556/test_loic_mp3.mp3 (original 3.8MB) and https://res.cloudinary.com/gotterdammerung/video/upload/q_80/test_loic_mp3.mp3 (now 3MB instead of 2.2MB).
Feel free to delete the video above afterward.
Best,
Loic

Hi Loic!
It seems to be fixed now for mp3's as you say, but when I download the files as AAC (with mp4 or m4a file extension), the sample rate is still 22.05kHz.
Is there a way to fix this default setting across the board? Or is the setting for frequency available as a parameter?
FYI I have a support ticket regarding this.. perhaps it's better to continue it there. Issue #180996
Best,
Adam
